For those new to our little show, I produced a promo video a few months ago which gives an overview of what we do each week:

It’s quite amazing to think that today marks the 2 year point of the radio show I have been presenting since 2010 – The 80sRewind Show. Time most certainly flies when you’re having fun and fun is one thing that myself and my partner in crime “The Researcher” Princess Pickles have had lots of over the years.

2ND ANNIVERSARY AND SUMMER SPECTACULAR

To mark the occasion today’s 80sRewind show is a special “2 Year Anniversary / Summer Spectacular”. Moving from 1980 to 1989, we will be featuring a fantastic playlist of Summer tunes along with five Summer movie trailers. A special random TV Theme generator will be activated at certain points during the show – but what will it select? We’ll also be looking back over two years of commercials and playing our favourites for each year – got some classics! Also in retrospective will be our A-Team feature where we’ll be playing some of the best clips from the run so far. Adding to the party will be our favourite Italo Disco track and an 80sRewind classic moment – a popular comedy song from 1985 (even though it wasn’t meant to be funny) that is a listener favourite.

Join us if you can to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and for a party experience to really get into the Summer vibe as well as end the week in style and kick start the weekend.

THE HISTORY OF THE 80SREWIND SHOW

Starting in late July 2010 I started The 80sRewind Show as way to look back over a truly unique decade and discover some of the music I really wasn’t that aware of when I was growing up. I actually didn’t get into 80s music until 2002 (due to the incredible setting and soundtrack of the game ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’) so the past 2 years really have been somewhat of an eye opener.

The show started with a simple format – we moved from 1980 to 1989 in order playing great music from the US Top 1000 charts and giving out trivia. We’d also take requests from listeners over Twitter and the now eponymous hashtag #80sRewind. Shortly afterwards we added a TV Themes feature where we would play the theme tunes of iconic 80s TV shows to add some texture to the show. Adding to the experience this then led to featuring original movie trailers, TV commercials and in recent times a look back on such greatness as Mister T, Chuck Norris, Italo Disco. kids action cartoons and the 80s phenomenon of the montage sequence. I have personally been amazed at the amount of awesomeness we’ve found on our journey.
The result has been a show that really encapsulates the atmosphere of this unique decade, aiming to take the listeners back in time every Friday and make them smile.

Its the 80s and that means only one thing - mirrored aviators!

We like to think of the 80sRewind show experience similar to that of a party. A group of people get together to reminisce while enjoying awesome music and having lots of laughs. That is one thing that I am truly thankful of – our incredible loyal listeners who have joined us on this retro adventure through the decade each week.

    Had a blast today. James and Pickles, and the motley crew who participate live make this a wonderful way to spend Friday afternoons. Truly a pleasure participating in “my favorite radio show”. Looking forward to the 5 year anniversary!
